Dr. Jane Goodall Hands Over Homes to Families in Gongo Village

A historic moment of community empowerment and conservation leadership

Historic Home Handover Ceremony

Saving Africa's Nature (SANA) was deeply honored to welcome Dr. Jane Goodall to Gongo Village, where she officially handed over keys to new homes built for less privileged families.

These beautiful houses were constructed using local materials, with the dedicated effort of Gongo community members, international volunteers, and the generous support of our partners Wheeling2Help, Beyond Borders, and many other friends of SANA.

"I am pleased with Costa and his organization for the good work they are doing to save our home planet. This is truly a great cause. And as you all know, we cannot conserve the environment while leaving behind our communities. I warmly congratulate this initiative and urge community members to value this support while honoring coexistence with wildlife—especially elephants. We all depend on one another, so let's live in harmony."

Conservation and Community Well-being

This initiative stands as a shining example of how conservation and community well-being go hand in hand, building a future where people and wildlife thrive together.

Dr. Jane's presence and words reinforced our belief that environmental protection and human development are not separate goals, but interconnected parts of the same mission.

A Summer Visit to Remember

Saving Africa's Nature (SANA) was deeply honored to host Dr. Jane Goodall during her summer visit to Tanzania.
During her time with us, Dr. Jane visited our projects, planted a symbolic tree, and handed over house keys to five families whose homes we built in partnership with our dedicated supporters.
She also endorsed our unique native seedbank unit, which now safeguards more than 500 species of indigenous seeds — a living legacy for future generations.
We are grateful for this unforgettable moment and for Dr. Jane's continued inspiration in our mission to protect nature and empower communities.
